About

Working from a home studio on the Mid North Coast, Heather specialises in porcelain ceramic sculpture.

Her pieces are individually handcrafted using many different techniques to bring life to her concepts. Elements are created on the potter’s wheel, from hand rolled and hand printed slabs, using coil and hand sculpted pieces, and hand carved.

She gives particular attention to the finishing and shaping of the surface and decoration to achieve the desired effect. Colour and glaze are carefully added when desired. All items are high fired to at least 1250 degrees Celsius or higher, which means they are perfectly safe for holding a treat or a beautiful bouquet of flowers (in the case of specialty bowls and vases).

Inspired by the natural patterns and colours of forest and ocean environments, Heather captures the essence of the intricate and interwoven designs of nature. Her work often translates a sense of fluidity, life and adventure.

Heather holds a Bachelor of Fine Art specialising in ceramics, and has been exhibiting and selling her work domestically and internationally for over 15 years. She has also completed professional development creative residencies at The Sanskriti Kendra in New Delhi, India and at The Banff Centre, Canada.

Using her creative skills and a commitment to fostering artistic communities worldwide, her professional experience includes the facilitation and instruction of a ceramic studio for adults with intellectual disabilities in Australia and the UK, arts administration, installation and events for the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) and an exhibition committee member for Ceramics Victoria Inc. She has also enjoyed working with a local community in Canada through planning, developing and delivering special events and the public art program for the Town of Canmore.
